Dr. Mirabbos Hojamberdiev
Dr. Mirabbos Hojamberdiev is a Senior Researcher at the Institut für Chemie, Technische Universität Berlin, Germany, where he leads an active research team working on developing advanced materials for energy conversion and environmental remediation.
His scientific interests lie in the areas of advanced materials, mixed-anion compounds, artificial photosynthesis, solar water splitting, green hydrogen, crystal growth, and nanomaterials. Specifically, he is exploring the impacts of crystal facet, morphology, dimension, and size on visible-light-induced photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical water splitting activity for green hydrogen production and photocatalytic removal of various organic pollutants from contaminated water and air over various oxide, non-oxide and mixed-anion crystals. Also, he works on the green synthesis of various nanomaterials using plants extracts as reducing, stabilizing, and structure-directing agent. He is principle author and co-author of over 190 peer-reviewed research and review papers and has given numerous invited talks at international conferences and seminar lectures at the visited universities.
He is member of American Chemical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry, Materials Research Society, Global Young Academy, TWAS Young Affiliates, etc. He has been a visiting scientist at several academic institutions in the world in the framework of various prestigious fellowships, including Fulbright Scholarship, Humboldt Fellowship, JSPS Fellowship, DAAD Scholarship, etc. He is the recipient of the President’s Award of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2004, TWAS Prize for Young Scientists in Chemistry in 2010, Atta-ur-Rahman Prize in Chemistry for Young Scientists in 2015, Georg Forster Research Award in 2017, IUPAC-CHEMRAWN VII Prize for Green Chemistry in 2018, and European Commission’s Marie-Curie Fellowship in 2019.
